Equilibrium Africa is acquiring an online media partner with which to begin the R&D phase of an innovative software and interface prototype which aims to establish advanced communication networks for the exchange of knowledge and information amongst experts working in areas of the social economy in support of development-based research and decisionmaking. The fundamental objective is to overcome the ‘silo mentality’ and responds to the need for integration in support of multi-participatory research, adaptive management and strategy-making across and within sectors.(Government, NGO, Private and Civil Society)

The proposed software employs specialised agent-based search technology combined with complex systems modelling, to establish and enable relevant user-connections across both sector and discipline. This will be achieved by developing a revolutionary search-engine which focuses on linkages between disciplines and institutions/organisations/individuals, employing Bayesian search technology for advanced data analytics. The statistics assist in overcoming the uncertainty factor in relevant scenario predictions and current information analysis and provide a thorough, concise basis of information to manage project development and inform investor decision making. The software will be scaleable and customisable to fit different organisational and thematic needs, enabling the user to access different levels of information as required. investment overlaps.

Through the creation a data-base of existing search, collaboration and social networking patterns, projects, programmes and user content management preferences, the user is enabled to customise the way they interact with and filter large amounts of information. This saves decision-maker vast amounts of time and spend  by isolating the cause of the perpetuated problem, not the symptom which causes ongoing resource drain. In turn, this contributes to the fostering of a self-sustaining system comprised of facilitated networks, self-driven by strategically synchronised outcomes-based collaboration. The database provides a system which supports workflow management and crosssector
collaboration, building up history and memory of social networking and subject search content for use in further research.
