Paul Ellis-Smith worked at Old Mutual for around 5 years, first as an internal auditor and later as a company secretary, where he developed a reputation for innovation and out-of-the-box thinking. He left the corporate world in August 2008 and is building a consulting / training business in financial management and corporate governance as a franchised management consultant for Amecus Corporate Governance (Pty) Ltd. His areas of business expertise are corporate governance, risk management, financial management and business leaderhsip. He has a Bachelor of Accounting Science and a post graduate diploma in advanced company law and securities law.

Paul has been a musician for most of his life and prior to working for Old Mutual taught classical guitar and presented a show on Fine Music Radio 101.3. Paul has become very involved in voluntary work in Muizenberg, where he has had a number of roles including chairing the Community Police Forum as well as sitting on the Executive Committee of the Muizenberg Lakeside Residents Association where he was responsible for safety and security. He is a non executive director of the Muizenberg Improvement District, a Section 21 Company and looks after the Corporate Governance and HR portfolios.
