Nhlanhla is currently the President of Alpha Women’s Network, a commercial network of professionals, businesswomen, and community women, who want to improve and access opportunities. The Network links women to procurement opportunities, training, placement on Boards, finance, international and local trade opportunities, information, mentoring and coaching, as well as financial literacy for grassroots entrepreneurs.  Prior to this, Nhlanhla was the economic advisor to ex Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, focusing on the Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative of South Africa (ASGISA) and Joint Initiative for Priority Skills Acquisition (JIPSA).

Nhlanhla holds an MSc in Urban and Regional Planning from the University Of Cape Town, and a Certificate in Technology Management from Warwick University. She is a SPURS (Special Programme in Urban and Regional Studies) fellow from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), a BUILD Certificate from Wharton School of Business, and also has a Senior Executive Programme Certificate from Harvard University.

She has worked as a town and regional planner in South Africa, a survey research supervisor at Washington State University, an executive director at a subsidiary of Murray and Roberts, chairman of NURCHA (National Urban Reconstruction and Housing Agency), chairman of Rural Housing Loan Fund, Women for Housing, and Open Society Institute in South Africa. She has run her own company, Mjoli Development Company, and Eziko Investments.

Some of the awards she has received include: Business Woman of the Year, Top Woman of the 90’s, Finance Woman of the Year, Black Business Woman of the Year, as well as being listed in Who is Who of South Africa.

Nhlanhla sits on several listed company boards, and has been recognized for her work in the SMME sector, empowerment of women and housing finance.
